Skype for Businesses
Skype has rolled out several products for businesses this year. With many smaller companies including NPOs already using Skype’s consumer services to reduce international and long-distance charges, it seemed inevitable the service would open up a plan for business services. The overview seems simple enough: attach Skype to a current PBX as a specific call plan for inter-office (internal) calls and add credits for low-cost international/long-distance calls to non-skype users.
After reviewing the extensive list of perks on Skype’s Business Homepage, I narrowed down their to several benefit claims in order of frequency: Pricing, Business Features, and Ease of Integration.
Dedicated Hosted VOIP and the ISP
Client Description: Client runs a dedicated hosted VOIP system provided by Telewebtech.
Summary: A fully functional VOIP system is held back by an Internet Service Provider’s recent update to their infrastructure, but the ISP is unable to correctly diagnose the problem. This causes a 90 day setback as the system must be fully analyzed and the national cable company must be repeatedly contacted by our engineers before it agrees to send a technician to replace their hardware.
