From April 22 (“Earth Day”) to June 22, 2012
snom COO Michael Knieling announced that since PoE is widely preferred, snom has decided not to include power supplies with phones and devices in the standard package. According to snom, the decision has positive effects for the environment by reducing waste and resources when power supplies are not used. Additionally, the power supplies also consume more energy than a standard PoE connection when used.
The company has announced that for every phone sold without an additional power supply between Earth Day and the last day of the the UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Brazil, one Dollar will be donated to www.earthday.de. Earth Day was selected as the recipient organization because it is globally active in promoting environmental conservation in more than 150 countries, and has a reliable and demonstrable track record in all of its activities.
