Marketing On Hold

Marketing on HoldSome companies can benefit greatly from advanced phone systems, in particular through use of On-Hold Marketing Campaigns. In 2005, The Wall Street Journal reported that Americans spend an average of 122 seconds on hold. That is time spent listening to smooth jazz, elevator classical, and repetitive riffs. With standard advertising being sold in 15-30 second increments, this wait-time offers businesses a chance to connect new products and services or promote on-line options to get things done. 3CX Phone System offers advanced Call Queue settings that can be used to promote your business objectives.

Call Queue Options

In the “Other Options” section of the Call Queues settings page, administrators can control several components related to what clients hear while they wait. For Telewebtech’s 3CX Phone System clients, our staff can configure these settings in addition to wait time and other basic actions:

  • A unique intro recording
  • Announce Queue position to caller
  • Announcement Interval (seconds)
  • A unique Music on Hold recording
  • Maximum Queue Wait Time (seconds)

By using the Music on Hold feature, the system can be used as a marketing device, promoting new service and products as well as entertaining clients while on the phone. The trick is that instead of placing users on hold, using the hold button, they must be transferred to the Call Queue extension. While the user is on the line, the Call Queue music will play. Once the user has finished their call, the Call Queue will send the waiting caller back to the extension.

Using Call Queues is a bit different than standard hold buttons, see this knowledge base article for information on how to use call queues.
