Most issues regarding service to a hosted extension or device involve internet connectivity. The following steps are meant to be taken in order as an escalation model for trouble shooting your device.
Step One: Do you have internet?
Try to access this website speedtest.net via your computer or another device using the same broadband connection as the phone.
Step Two: Are all components Plugged In and Turned On?
Check that the phone and modem are turned on and plugged in.
Step Three: Are all components connected?
Check that the ethernet cable is plugged into the proper ports on the phone and router/modem.
Step Four: Is the phone registered with the server?
Restart your phone and allow one minute for registration. Check to see if this solves the issue by placing a call.
